Sapana Patil PoojaryAfter the abrupt end of ‘Aisa Des Hai Mera’ its protagonist Saumya Tandon has moved on. She has recently shot for a music video, titled ‘Barsaat’ (composed by Pravin Bharadwaj) and shall also be seen in the show ‘Meri Awaaz Ko Mil Gaye Roshni’ (Star Plus).Saumya says excitedly about the video, “It has me looking glamorous in a long and flowing gown playing the piano.” She adds, “I did this video because it’s a sweet story and I would be the face for singer Mahalakshmi Iyer’s voice. Mahalaxmi has also sung the title song for the serial ‘Meri Awaaz.’.”About doing this show Saumya says, “Although I had auditioned for both Sudha and Ria’s role, I was apprehensive about doing television. But I realised that the show was not the regular saas bahu soap. It had an interesting story.”Saumya has also acted in two films. “I have acted in a 30-minute Canadian film called ‘Maya’, which was made for film festivals.
I have also acted in Imtiaz Ali’s untitled film where I play Kareena Kapoor’s sister,” she says.Quiz her on why she keeps such a low profile and Saumya replies, “I have been just a year in this industry. I like to keep to myself and enjoy reading.”Apparently, Saumya is also very firm about her choices. She explains, “I am clear about what I am not comfortable playing so that people know what role to offer me the next time.
People in the industry are very smart. They may not tell you directly what the scene involves. You have to be intelligent enough to sense what could happen and be strong enough to stand by your conscience.”.
